Today I’m showing you how to make a patchwork pillow for your garden chair! This adorable pillow is quick and easy to make, super comfortable and it’s a gorgeous accessory that will brighten up your patio!
I hope you’re doing well and staying healthy, safe and sane! As many of you I’m stying home with my family during the Coronavirus pandemic. These are scary and uncertain times and I thought I’d share this tutorial to keep your fingers busy and your mind focused on the good things! I’ve designed this patchwork pillow as part of a blog tour in 2015 and later turned the project into a class I taught in quiltshops. I made several pillows for myself which have been in use since then. They’re pretty worn and faded and I decided to make new ones, now that it’s getting warm and we’re spending more time outside in the garden again.
How to make a patchwork pillow for you Garden Chair
The patchwork pillow for garden chairs (finished size is 15″ x 15″) is a beginner friendly pattern that doesn’t require many materials. Just go through your stash and look for bright and medium to large scale prints to recreate the look of my pillows. You can use any kind of ribbon, narrow or wide, binding scraps or soft cotton rope for the ties. If you don’t have polyester fibre filling on hand you can also use multiple layers of batting or foam. Or just cut open an old pillow you don’t want to use anymore and reuse the filling.
